To be a good father

To be a good father, you must be a good husband.  Focus on caring for you wife and meeting and exceeding her needs, and you will find yourself already fulfilling your role as father.

It is true to some degree, but could easily morph into neglect of other responsibilities if not kept in a right perspective.

To be a good father one must be faithful and pass on his faith. Faithfullness in the first order to God in Christ Jesus makes a man better able to be faithful to his wife. Faithfullness to his wife makes a man better able to be faithful to his children, and so on.

Service in love is the method of passing on one's faith. Christ is the model in loving even unto death. This is active as well as passive and involves sacrifice.

Many a faithful man have lost their little ones or even their wives due to failing to actively pass on their faith. The active role requires risk in being transparent, humble, and volnurable, like the Good Shepherd.

The grace needed for such a task is only obtained by actively seeking Christ through imitation and obedience.
